In Memoriam - Philadelphia, PA 1983 and Montreal, Canada 1984
[Swinging Pig, TSP-205-3CD] (3CD set)
complete King Biscuit Flower Hour material, superb sound
all three discs packaged together in LP sized box
The King Biscuit Flower Hour [DIR Radio Network] was a syndicated radio show that specialized in live performance broadcasts. The "KBFH material" notation on the boot list means "Excellent to superb quality multi-track recordings" of some of Stevie's finest performances. TO DATE, the main problem with "KBFH" broadcast discs [and their boot CD copies] is that they include only a few songs from each performance. To make matters worse, DIR reissued the same show many times, all with the same track list. There are only two versions of SRV "KBFH" shows. Now the good news! The good folks at Swingin' Pig Records, in their infinite wisdom, have released "In Memoriam" [TSP-CD-205-1,2,3, 3 CD set]. "IM" contains the complete, unedited"KBFH" recordings, including the tracks that were not broadcast on "KBFH." To my ears, this set is without a doubt, some of Stevie's finest moments, both in performance and audio quality. I am sitting here listening to the 1st CD of In Memorium and I am amazed at The Man all over again. This stuff is unbe@*#$inglievable!!! Excellent sound quality, man I love bein on this list!!

Mr Lucky's - Denver, Co. 11/28/83 (1 CDR)
Very rare - Steve drops into this small bar after openning for the Moody Blues in Denver and is offered $100.00 by the local band thats playing there "Rosie Malone" to play a few songs with them. He does (3) songs with them recorded from the soundboard I believe on analog tape, not bad sound but does have a good amount of tape hiss and channel intensity flucuates. Have you ever heard The Sky is Crying with an harmonica included, not bad. Includes Mark Balin on harmonica. Also has filler of SRV playing as a guest with E.Clapton at The Palace at Auburn Hills 4/15/90

The tracks above have been verified to be identical to certain tracks
on the "Soul To Soul" sessions tapes, which contain over 13 hours of
material. The remaining tracks cannot be matched to any material on
the tapes, so they may be from different studio sessions, possibly the
"Couldn't Stand The Weather" sessions. The liner notes incorrectly
attribute some of the "STS" tracks to the "CSTW" sessions, so the
recording dates listed therein cannot be trusted.
Tracks 4,6,8,11-13 can be found on the Life Without You 4CD set.

The first cd is very interesting, but is of poor sound quality. On that cd, you can hear early SRV with Lou Ann Barton belting out the lyrics, while Stevie plays his ass off in the background. The second cd is a better quality sounding cd with Stevie and brother Jimmie playing such tunes as Couldnít Stand the Weather and Kim Wilson singing the Crawl while Jimmie and Stevie trade licks. I really love this package for the 3rd cd which is studio outtakes from the ďSoul to SoulĒ sessions. The workout on Little Wing and Third Stone From the Sun just blows me away. The fourth cd is SRV-DT live somewhere, but the sound quality isnít that great because Reeseís piano and keyboards are turned way up in the mix, and sometimes drowning out the guitar. The package comes with a booklet.
Some incredibly fantastic stuff on these CDís but one track for me stand out from the rest. Disk 2 track 10 is the most unbelievable version of Little Wing Iíve heard. 13.20 magic minutes of absolute pure heart and soul. It just blew me away. I must have listened to it 20+ times in the last 3 days.
